The 2000 remake starring Jim Carrey turns the animated 1966 TV movie into a modern must-see. This funny film, originally conceived by Dr. Seuss, take us back to the Whoville we remember from Christmases past. The Grinch hates Christmas and wants to ruin it for all the too-happy Whos down in Whoville, until Cindy Lou Who ruins his scheme by becoming his friend and showing him what Christmas is all about. Jim Carrey plays a hilariously evil Grinch in the remake. Chances are you’ve seen it many times before, but it’s a movie that’s worth watching every year. You’ll have a laugh at the Grinch’s antics (and, of course, his little dog), and get a good reminder of the joy of holiday cheer.

  1. Tree Man

This 2015 film follow a Quebecois Christmas tree seller named François as he goes to New York City to sell his trees. It’s an interesting look at the hidden world of the migrant-like lifestyle of the Christmas tree sellers who travel from Canada to New York every year. It’s a story of a father who’s doing what he needs to do to provide for his family back home, but also has a makeshift family of other tree sellers in his home away from home—the van where he lives while he’s selling Christmas trees to the residents of New York. Tree Man is a thought-provoking take on the symbolic Christmas tree and the place they hold in our culture.   Planning a movie marathon? You may also like this
